We provide a choice of CPAP devices– the gold standard treatment for sleep apnea without surgery or drugs
Successful treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) can improve all aspects of a person’s life. CPAP therapy is the ‘gold standard’ and most common treatment and does not involve drugs or surgery. Patients can experience sleep improvements within their first few nights.
CPAP (Continuous Positive Air Pressure) is the most common therapy for obstructive sleep apnea and is regarded as the ‘gold standard’ therapy because of its effectiveness across a wide range of cases. Air Liquide Healthcare offers a range of CPAP devices from ResMed, Philips Respironics and Fisher & Paykel.
We back our selection of products with outstanding customer service programs designed to maximise patient compliance, particularly in the first few weeks and months of their therapy where compliance is critical to develop the habit of using CPAP while they sleep.
CPAP consists of a flow generator that pumps air through a tube into a mask worn by the patient. This increases the air pressure inside the patient’s throat, supporting the airway and keeping the path to the lungs open by preventing the throat muscles from collapsing into the airway.
Patients usually report that CPAP therapy improves their lifestyle dramatically.
Being able to breathe properly improves their sleep – leaving them feeling refreshed in the morning. Not snoring often improves their partner’s sleep too, with predictable relationship improvements. The CPAP mask is only worn during sleep and manufacturers go to great lengths to make the masks as comfortable as possible. Small, travel-sized CPAP devices are also available.
CPAP therapy is a treatment, not a cure, for OSA. To be beneficial, CPAP must be used every time your patient is sleeping, which requires ongoing support. Air Liquide Healthcare’s high level of service encourages patients to use their devices and achieve successful outcomes.
Patients can try, rent or buy the latest CPAP devices with excellent after-sales support and we will always respect your prescription.
While CPAP therapy is the ‘Gold Standard’ therapy for OSA, there are some patients who are unable to tolerate CPAP. Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD) has been proven to be as effective as CPAP in patients with mild to moderate OSA. While there are several options of MAD, including the simplest ‘boil and bite’, semi-custom and custom-made MAD, it has been shown that patients prefer the semi-custom MADs. Semi-custom MADs are the most cost-effective device, with a marginal room for adjustment.
Factors associated with improved outcomes with MADs include:

The biggest challenge to successful CPAP therapy is compliance with treatment. Patients can be uncomfortable or embarrassed using the device and wearing the mask early in their treatment when they have not yet experienced its full benefit. This reluctance can lead to inconsistent use, or abandonment, of the therapy.
Air Liquide Healthcare ’s initiation and optimisation programs are carefully designed to support your patient and ensure successful treatment.
Studies demonstrate that education about OSA, follow-up, a comfortable mask fit, effective therapy monitoring and regular communication with a professional all improve treatment success.
Another benefit of our close support of the patient is that we can identify patients who have a genuine difficulty with CPAP and can encourage them to speak to you about other therapies to manage their condition.
